2016/2017 Winter Must Have Outwear – with designers delivering an array of statement pieces this season, there was definitely some show stoppers on the runway. From fluffy fur coats to bold military jackets, whatever your style, this winter there is a trend for everyone.
The military coat is a winter must have, they’re not only warm and comfortable but also modern and masculine meets feminine. Brands from Valentino to Burberry showcased updated versions of this trend, by adding badges, bows and prints. This fall the military coat is more noticeable and unique then ever before. Military style knitwear is also a key winter trend, khaki jumpers and knit dresses are perfect to wear under your military coat or with the popular sock boot. The knit dress is versatile as it can be dressed up with a statement bag and jewellery or dressed down with combat boots and a shearling coat.
This season make a statement by pairing two must have trends; leather and military. I’ve teamed my cosy turtleneck with a bold cropped jacket and finished of my look with sky-high heels and a fun bag.

The winter 2016/17 runway saw a notably fun colour appear, candy pink was seen on Chanel, Dior and Gucci to name a few. Probably the most notable look was the head to toe pink Gucci outfit, which included a larger than life pink fur coat with matching tights, shoes and bag; the coat and bag have since become a favourite of uber blogger Chiara Ferragni. Add a pop of colour to your winter wardrobe by pairing your long line coat with a striking pink bag for an eclectic look.
Metallics have always been a returning winter trend as they provide effortless sparkle during the holiday season. Look out for a variety of silver tones as seen on the runways of Michael Kors and Balenciaga, this winter metallic dresses have a lady-like silhouette with longer sleeves and a knee-length hemline. For the ultimate galactic look, pair your dress with strappy metallic stilettos and finish off with a matt lipstick.
This winter the popular 80’s choker has returned but is sleeker and more fashion forward then before. The accessory can be worn with a t-shirt and jeans for a slouchy look, or with a strapless dress for a night out. Another must have accessory is the fedora hat; it adds a touch of androgyny to any look. Wear your fedora with a long-line trench coat and statement boots like Angela Blick below.

This season’s outerwear is bold, shiny and daring. Leopard print is back but this time its been used for daring coats as seen on Prada, Givenchy and Moschino. Wear your coat with knee- high boots and a little black dress for a glamorous look. The shearling coat is the ideal cosy, oversized coat made for ultimate comfort, if you’re worried about being overwhelmed then opt for a short jacket version. Add block heels and skinny jeans for a cool weekend outfit. Finally the most daring is the vinyl coat, it’s not only fashion forward but waterproof too. Coordinate with printed pants or a pencil skirt for a seductive allure.
Leather leggings are here to stay; they’re a fashion staple that can take any outfit from bland to exciting. There are some misconceptions that leather leggings or trousers are uncomfortable, this is untrue. If you purchase ones with a good fit and elastic waist then you’re sure to feel cosy. Leather leggings can be worn with just about anything, from knitwear to denim and prints. For a day out team your leggings with a chunky sweater and ankle boots. For an evening look, wear them with bodysuit and stilettos. If you prefer skirts then opt for a leather number, they’re ideal in the winter weather. Pair your skirt with tights and knee-high boots for an elegant look or alternatively with sneakers for a cool casual appeal.
